Growing Glass Franchise Opens Second Kansas Location

The Glass Guru recently celebrated the addition of the Company’s newest active franchise location, The Glass Guru of Olathe, KS. The location marks the second location for the company in the state of Kansas, both in the last 12 months.  Franchise Owner Curtis Dockett attended the week-long Initial Franchise Training at The Glass Guru headquarters in Roseville, CA, completing his training  on July 24, 2020  in preparation for his grand opening on July 27.   Curtis comes to The Glass Guru with a diverse professional background. Dockett is veteran, having proudly served in the US Army. He received an Associates degree in Network Administration. He is an accomplished sales professional with experience in a number of industries, including freight brokerage/logistics and insurance. Curtis has also spent time as a college and HS baseball umpire.  Curtis and his wife Brandy had been seeking out business opportunities for some time. After discussing it, they decided to focus their search on franchise opportunities, and utilized the services of a franchise broker from FranServe to assist in the process. The Dockett’s franchise broker spent time finding out more about what the couple was looking for out of a business opportunity, and in turn, introduced them to several franchise brands, including The Glass Guru.  As the Dockett’s moved through The Glass Guru’s proven franchise discovery process, they looked closely at the company,  reviewing all of the information provided to them by the franchisor, spoke with several other franchise owners within franchise network, and participated in a two-day on-site discovery visit at company headquarters and the  franchise location in Roseville, CA.  After the  franchise discovery process, Curtis and Brandy knew this was the franchise for them. Curtis strongly agreed that the location opening checklist and the training plans provided  a structured format so that it was clear what items needed to be accomplished prior to the launch of the franchise location, and that the communications between The Glass Guru team and the couple was effective and proactive. “What I like most about the franchise training process was meeting all the staff at HQ, and especially the hands-on portion of the training” says Curtis Dockett. While he’s concerned about the prevailing  realities of our time, Curtis is also optimistic.

What ultimately led us to choose The Glass Guru as our new business was the realization that offering repair and  restoration services for residential and commercial glass showed it could be a viable way to benefit our community as an alternative to the potential high costs of replacement.  We wanted to pursue the opportunity to be a part of a unique and growing franchise system that focuses on professionalism and also providing trendsetting glass services like foggy window repair. My biggest concerns are the uncertainties of COVID-19 and it’s impact on our society returning to normal. In two years, I (still) see our business being fully operational with 4-5 full-time glaziers, two office coordinators, and two full-time estimators, while I focus on the financial, operations, and marketing side of things” Curtis Dockett  |  Franchise Owner

The dockets have demonstrated an incredible work ethic, and a willingness and ability to learn quickly. These traits have always been signs of future success when combined with The Glass Guru’s proven franchise model. The leadership team at The Glass Guru expects great things from the Olathe, KS market, and from the team that Curtis and Brandy Dockett ultimately assemble. For now, the Dockets are working diligently to ramp up theil location, and are anxious to serve the communities of Olathe, KS and the surrounding areas with their customers’ glass, window, door, and bath & shower needs.
