Dan attended the University of California, Davis, where he majored in economics and sociology. After college, he began his career at a venture capital firm where he excelled at sales and was a top-ranked salesperson every year while with the company. Being on the lookout for new opportunities, Frey learned of the new process being used in Canada to restore failed dual-pane windows. Noting the potential for this service in the United States, Dan launched The Glass Guru (originally Glass Wizard) in 2004. Three years of rapid growth and development later, he franchised the company in 2007.
Glass Magazine in 2009 recognized Dan as one of the most influential 30 under 40 in the glass industry. In 2011, he received the honor of the Top 40 Under 40 business people from the Sacramento Business Journal.
Dan enjoys 4x4ing, backyard gardening, and acting as a human jungle gym for his three young children when he is not working. He enjoys personal development by listening to audiobooks and podcasts. Dan lives with his wife, Joy, and children in Loomis, California, with their two dogs, five chickens, and their goat named Jeff. If Dan were to have his autobiography, he would title it “The Rise of the Guru.”
